KL Talent Solutions are proud to be partnering with our client, a highly successful and privately owned logistics business operating across Scotland and England. Their Logistics Division provides supply chain management, storage, distribution, and related services to major customers via strategically located intermodal centres. The company operates major rail freight terminals, a fleet of 450 trucks, and over 5 million square feet of warehousing nationwide, delivering integrated third-party logistics solutions to blue-chip clients.
We are currently seeking an experienced and competent Transport Planner (Nights) to join the team at their North Yorkshire logistics depot. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and highly respected business.
About the Role
This role is suited to an individual with a keen interest in transport and distribution who can demonstrate a proven record of effective and efficient transport planning within a busy national fleet operation. The overall objective is to ensure first-class customer service while maintaining cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional customer service
- Daily load planning and fleet scheduling
- Prioritise workload and plan efficient routes
- Conduct daily driver briefings and debriefs
- Monitor tachograph compliance
- Liaise with sub-contractors, suppliers, and internal departments
Skills and Experience
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK
- Knowledge of Driver’s Working Time Regulations
- Awareness of Driver CPC legislation
- Previous experience in transport operations preferred
- Effective team player with excellent organisational skills
- Proficient in IT and route planning software (experience with Road Runner or equivalent essential)
- Confident user of Microsoft Office or equivalent packages
- Attention to detail, professional confidence, and clear communication skills
Additional Information
- Hours: 4 on / 4 off roster, 18:00 - 06:00
- Flexibility required during peak operational periods
- Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
