Description

Our client based in Teesside are expanding their team and require a Senior Quantity Surveyor. You will be reporting to the Commercial Manager.

Purpose of the role:

To manage the costs on construction projects and ensure that the project is completed within budget.

Responsibilities: 

  • Carry out all duties with no risks to the health and safety of anyone on or off-site.
  • Prepare and review, Tender Documents, Contracts and Sub-Contracts, Appointment and Sub-Appointment documents, Bills of Quantities, other Contract and Sub-Contract documentation.
  • Price and forecast the project costs and report periodically in writing, on the financial status of projects including cash flow forecasting.
  • Track changes to the design and or construction work and re-evaluate project costs/budget.
  • Procure the services of Sub-Contractors and Professionals.
  • Measure work done on-site / factory / design for the; calculation of the external application for payment from the Client, and payment for the Sub-Contractors and Professionals, and for the computation of the cost to complete for the project.
  • Liaise with the Client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers, engineers, designers.
  • Ensuring the company on-site processes are carried out.
  • Reporting all site processes and events.
  • All Pre-Contract phase duties.

Skills of Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • Managing relationships.
  • Managing budgets/financials etc.
  • Liaising with all stakeholders so good communication is essential.
  • Numeracy and Literacy.
  • Broad knowledge of Contractual law.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel and the ability to learn how to use specialist software.
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work in a team.
  • The ability to negotiate, persuade and motivate others.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to analyse information and data and be comfortable with the data.
  • Flexibility and commercial awareness.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • Bachelor's (preferred)

Experience:

  • Quantity surveying: 2 years (required)
  • Light Gauge steel: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (required)
