Description

Our client is a well-established, family-run construction business with a reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the North East. We are now looking to expand our team by bringing on board a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Estimator/Programme Manager.

Role Overview:

As a Trainee Estimator/Programme Manager, you will be mentored by experienced professionals in the construction industry. You will learn to develop accurate cost estimates and effectively manage project timelines, ensuring that all construction projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is perfect for someone who is eager to develop a career in construction project management and estimating, with a willingness to learn and grow in a supportive, family-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimation:
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Learn to analyse project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
- Support the senior estimator in sourcing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Help in identifying cost-saving opportunities and potential risks in projects.

Programme Management:
- Assist in the development of project schedules, outlining key milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Support the monitoring and updating of project progress, ensuring that timelines are adhered to.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure smooth workflow and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in the preparation of regular project status reports for internal and client review.

Learning & Development:
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to develop your skills in estimation and programme management.
- Receive mentorship from senior team members, providing you with the guidance and support needed to succeed in your role.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Essential:
- A keen interest in the construction industry and a desire to learn about project management and cost estimation.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Desirable:
- A background in construction, engineering, or a related field (either through education or previous work experience).
- Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
- Basic understanding of project management principles.
