KL Talent Solutions is proud to partner with a leading logistics and distribution business seeking a skilled Transport Planner to join their growing team. This position plays a key role in supporting the transport planning function ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective routing across a nationwide operation.
The Role
As a Central Planner, you will be responsible for the day-to-day routing of HGV vehicles within a fast-paced, multi-drop delivery environment. Working as part of a centralised planning team, you’ll coordinate vehicle and driver schedules to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Daily routing of 25–30 HGV vehicles (rigid and artic), handling around 15–20 drops per vehicle per day.
- Scheduling all vehicles across assigned depots and regions.
- Managing driver holidays, absences, briefings, and debriefings.
- Coordinating driver training and compliance requirements.
- Ensuring vehicles are available for all planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Monitoring and managing depot fuel stock.
- Producing accurate transport and performance reports.
- Supporting health, safety, and environmental standards across operations.
- Continuously improving efficiency and resource utilisation.
About You
We’re looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual with experience in high-volume, multi-drop, final-mile operations.
You’ll bring:
- Strong transport planning experience within a fast-paced HGV fleet environment.
- Proven ability to use system-based routing tools.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- A calm, analytical approach to managing competing priorities.
- Solid IT literacy and confidence in data analysis and reporting.
- Working knowledge of transport compliance and legislation.
