Description

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of ground investigation projects across a busy regional office based in Berkshire.

This is a key leadership role where you’ll take ownership of operational performance, project delivery, and team development. You’ll play an important part in shaping a positive, high-performing culture while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards. This role would suit someone who enjoys balancing people leadership, commercial awareness, and hands-on project oversight, and who takes pride in delivering quality outcomes for both clients and teams.

The Role

You will be responsible for leading and developing a multidisciplinary team, creating a supportive and high-performing environment built on clear communication and shared goals. This includes setting direction, managing performance, and providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to Project Managers and engineering teams, while also supporting recruitment and staff development.

Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will oversee the successful delivery of multiple ground investigation projects. This will involve coordinating resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, and maintaining a strong focus on quality and technical excellence. You will play an active role in resolving challenges, supporting project planning, and reviewing outputs to ensure compliance with required standards.

Building and maintaining strong relationships will be a key part of the role. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and technical specialists, ensuring clear and consistent communication and a collaborative approach to delivery.

You will also champion a strong health, safety, environmental, and quality culture across all operations. This includes ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, conducting audits, reviewing plans, and driving continuous improvement in line with industry standards.

From an operational and commercial perspective, you will take ownership of contract performance, including cost control, forecasting, and profitability. You will ensure resources are used effectively and support the smooth day-to-day running of the regional office and facilities.

In addition, you will contribute to business growth by supporting business development activities, identifying new opportunities, and building strong professional networks. You will also play a role in driving initiatives that enhance overall performance, efficiency, and service delivery.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone with proven experience in a similar role within ground investigation or a related field, who brings strong leadership capability and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach. You’ll be a confident communicator with the ability to build lasting relationships, manage competing priorities, and make sound commercial decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

You will have a minimum of seven years’ relevant experience, supported by a BSc (or equivalent) and SMSTS certification.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to take on a visible leadership role within a growing and dynamic environment, where you can shape team performance, influence outcomes, and make a meaningful impact on both projects and people. You’ll be part of a collaborative culture where your experience and ideas are valued, and where you can continue to develop professionally.
