Description

KL Talent Solutions is recruiting an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer on behalf of an established international manufacturing business based in Teesside.

Our client specialises in precision-engineered components and systems, supplying industries where quality, accuracy and reliability are essential.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established engineering team, supporting the Maintenance Supervisor in ensuring that production equipment, machinery and site systems are maintained safely and efficiently.

The successful candidate will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance, electrical and mechanical fault finding, installations and ensuring equipment operates in line with required safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across manufacturing machinery and equipment.
  • Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, diagnosing faults and completing repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining electrical and mechanical compliance across the site.
  • Undertake electrical installation, maintenance and repair work as required.
  • Identify recurring equipment faults and contribute to improvements in machinery reliability and performance.
  • Work with plant control systems, including PLCs, to assist with fault finding and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, following site procedures and carrying out appropriate risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and use relevant systems to monitor equipment performance and maintenance activities.
  • Liaise with external contractors, supporting and coordinating maintenance and installation work where required.
  • Work closely with production teams, supervisors and other departments to ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently.

Skills and Experience Required

  • A recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Maintenance.
  • Previous experience working in a multi-skilled maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
  • Electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
  • Experience working with industrial machinery, plant equipment and associated systems.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and industrial control systems would be advantageous.
  • A good understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and external contractors.
  • Computer literate, with the ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys getting stuck into the technical side of maintenance, can think logically when diagnosing faults and understands the importance of keeping production running.

You'll be comfortable dealing with both planned maintenance and unexpected breakdowns, able to prioritise your workload and take ownership of tasks without needing constant supervision.
